What is the Coach Star Rating?
The Coach Star Rating explained
A coach who is not highly ranked, can still be a well-performing coach. However, he might be operating in a domestic competition that does not generate many World Ranking points.
For better insight into such hidden performance differences, Football World Rankings has introduced the Coach Star Rating, which compares coaches with other coaches from the same domestic competition.
A coach can earn up to 5 Stars
- ONE STAR for winning significantly more competition matches in 2 out of 3 seasons
- ONE STAR for winning significantly more competition matches in 3 out of 3 seasons
- ONE STAR for winning significantly more competition away matches in 2 out of 3 seasons
- ONE STAR for winning significantly more competition matches in the second half of the match 2 out of 3 seasons
- ONE STAR for reaching the quarterfinals of the most important club tournaments in 2 of the 3 last seasons; or the final in 1 of the last 3 seasons.
What does 'significantly' more mean?
Significantly better is a standard deviation higher than the average performance in the domestic competition of the coach concerned. This generally results in the top 15.8% of the competition. See chart below
Stars are determined after each year in July.
